The Texas Regional Ethics Bowl is next week, Saturday 12 November from 8:00 to 3:00 (volunteers will be able to leave around 1:30). We have 16 teams of students from 12 colleges and universities spanning 4 states who will be on campus to compete in this event. The top three schools will be invited to the national Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl next spring.
In order for things to run smoothly, I still need a few volunteers.
Judges: Judges score the competition. If you are comfortable evaluating ethical arguments, this would be a great opportunity for you.
Moderators: Moderators are responsible for running individual rounds of the competition. Moderators are responsible for time keeping, score keeping, and managing the process of a round.
Volunteers will receive breakfast, lunch, and a t-shirt. More importantly, volunteers will support an event that allows students to engage in civil discourse about ethics. Training will be provided.
Also, Dean Lewis has confirmed this counts for participating faculty.
Thanks,
Matthew
