I am planning a series for the blog titled The Class of '70. It will feature reminisces of my experience as an undergrad at UT Austin 1966-1970.
One feature of that era was an independent student newspaper. Administrations have pretty well stamped those out, but the rise of the internet can't keep an independent voice down.
The Aggie Guardian is a newly launched student written independent paper at College Station. This particular article focuses on student fees. The author even supports Rick Perry who as he says would probably refund fees not spent.
Here is an article on outgiong President Loftin's demands for retirement.
Now here is the positive spin for our campus. A few semesters back when we were at St. Joe's a student showed up who had transferred back from College Station to finish here at her hometown of San Antonio. Her take was that she would save tens of thousands of dollars by finishing here. As an example she noted a parking sticker there was $350.
Another student appeared in one of my classes from yet another A & M branch. I am wondering if this will be a trend, stay here, get an A & M degree, save lots of bucks.
As a professor on this campus I am endeavoring to deliver the highest content courses possible. This semester I posted a lengthy list of free resources for study for accounting students. I continue to adddto the list.
We plan to add value to your degree by being efficient and affordable without unnecessary extravagance. Let us know what you think.
