Another all too common theme is how organizations lose their way. Here is a story on anothe three that lost their way.
Sears Holding was a short term darling whe Eddie Lampert added it after buying K Mart out of bankruptcy. But Lampert is a hedge fund manager not a retailer. Buffet lets the successful owner run the business, Lampert did not.
Radio Shack got lost in the move to on lne retailing and then decided to make itself into a phone outlet. No way they can compete iwth ATT, Verizon, etc.
JC Penny like Sears enjoyed a short term shot higher when Ron Johnson from Apple decided to re make the entire chain all at once. He should have test marketed the strategy on a few stores. That never made sense, Apples sells about 20 products, JCP sells hundreds.
and so now all have downgraded debt and poor stock chart patterns. Looks like Polaroid, Smith Corona, or circuit City to me.
