The President of Hungary was stripped of his Phd for plagiarizing his doctoral thesis. And so he ahs resigned as President.
I know several of the graduate students had nervous moments during their presentation at the SWTLC this Saturday. But hey, you did your own work! Imagine the humiliation if it turned out it belonged to someone else.
It's good to know there are countries out there where this matters (to the point where the president resigns over it). I suspect I'm cynical when I say, here, that person would dismiss the issue claiming it was an honest mistake and it would be forgiven (consider the issue with Tim Geitner, our Treasurer).

Yes, there's nothing more humiliating to be stripped from something you have worked so hard for and accomplished so much with and just to be taken away within a snap of a finger....and for reasons that were obviously unethical.
