Two days ago I made a post titled Math Matters. It linkes an article describing how one Don Johnson, the gambler not the tv star, netted several million playing against various casinos. He only played when the odds were in his favor. That is the point of the article.
Now today the WSj features an article,Game Film Goes to School. If you have not read the Math Matters article, go back two days, read it and then read Game Film.
In class I mentioned the film and book, Moneyball. That is the story of a minor league baseball coach using new statistics to uncover under rated talent.
Now the firm Krossover offers a service which breaks down digital game films. It determines what works and what percent of the time it is succcessful. In this way the coach can focus the team on the most successful strategy.
Whether one is investing in the stock market, playing high school basketball, or marketing a new product, the highest percent probability needs to be pursued.
The undergrad classes have a discussion post on BB where they can remark on this trend. Please do so.
