The film premier of the first of the last two books in the Twilight series was this past weekend.
The movie took in $283.5 million world wide in just three days. 80% of the ticket buyers were women.
Twilight had a midnight showing last Thursday to kick off the premier.
I have been harping on how socionomics, understanding mood, can improve a company's marketing ability. I have suggested that designing products for the market understanding the mood of the market would reap superior returns to investors. Here is a case in point.
Ask yourself, how is it that this story resonates so strong among women? Yes a female has the lead but that is hardly unusual. In this story she marries and become pregnant, by a vampire. Not exactly who Mom and Dad had in mind as a son in law I would guess....
"Twilight" resonates so strongly with women because it plays into a world of fantasy. From a very young age, many young girls watch Disney movies in which every princess is rescued by her prince. Edward rescues Bella in every since. He first rescues her from her mundane life, then from the critcism of his fellow vampires, then from viscious ware wolves. He makes her feel safe and know her value. Each women wants to feel this way and in many cases, "Twilight" takes them away from their alternate reality.

Cammy
It seems to me that it takes women away from their actual reality to an alternate reality
I mean, vampires are an alternate reality, right?
Or then again, maybe not...

This falls under fantasy but a bit more though. The hotest guy in school who happens to be a vampire falls in love with a ordinary girl or an outcast of the town. This is like a twisted Cinderella story. It does still bring people in the threaters to see it.

Elam, you have to rent the series. It is a great and intersting book. I love the twilight series, of course more women bought the book because as you read the book one imagins to be in Bella's postion. Who doen't want to date the hottest guy in the school and be involved in all the drame between Jacob and Edward.
