It's not just for the homeless any more, yep Food Stamps now help 36 million people
The numbers were growing even at the stock market and economy were in good shape. Will these new additions ever go off the program? See the previous post about the trillions in deficit spending....
i think it is tragic that so many americans have needed to start recieving food stamps. but even with the stock rising there are still plenty of people trying to recover and foodstamps help them in getting back on there feet. most people are still trying to save and food stamps is one way to help save money from a pay check. i think eventually the additions will go off the program but i dont see it happening anytime soon.

One of the revelations of my lifetime is learning how readily people will adapt their lifestyle to accomodate the promise of easy money or subsidy. After losing a job, getting unemployment and then food stamps, the stamps become an entitlement, the idea of losing that entitlement is abhorrent to them, they will take jobs in the underground economy or refuse jobs that might help for fear of losing the food stamps, make that the Lone Star Card. Remember the scene in Million Dollar Baby, the boxer buys her mother a house, the mother refuses saying if the authorities find out she will lose her welfar?
