Niall Ferguson says if we fail to build Keystone, China wins. I mentioned his book The Great Degeneration, is out this week.
I mentioned the demise of the BRICS this weekend. Mary O'Grady takes a good look at behind he scenes Brazil in her regular Monday coumn. She covers the Americas on Monday and is a must read.
Markets are openning lower this morning. I have suggested during the volatiile summer that the sidelines are the best place to be.
I also mentioned declining US Presitge this weekend as a significant puzzle piece of the coming 1973-74 type meltdown. On the front page, Snowden flees
from Hawaii to Hong Kong
Hong Kong replies that the US failed to provide proper Interpol information for them to hold snowden
At the Moscow airport, Snowden stays in the transit area where apparently the Russians can claim he cannot be apprehended
Note the hot os of Ecuador's BMW limos at the airport (Ecuador can afford BMW limos in Moscow, who knew?)
Snowden plans to fly to Cuba, then Ecuador. Here isa chance for even Cuba to play the game, given the on again off again Close GItmo US Policy.
All of this provided the perfect embarassing moment for Putin and the Chinese to highlight US bungling and inability to get things done. Now imagine two more years of this!
such stunts will serve as a magnet for growing negative social mood.
