Weekend March 16 2013
On the trip which required a plane ride from San Antonio to Albuquerque I took the iPad furnished by my school model MC96OLL/A with as best I can tell 16 GB.
And yes it has an external bluetooth keyboard which works just fine. I downloaded a couple of books to read on the plane. My observations as follows
I would not buy this model, no USB port in an an era of digital cameras an unbelievable omission, the new version with 32 BG has a USB port I am told
I don't like touching the screen instead of using the mouse, the mouse is easier to put the bar between letters of words
Displays are not the same on the iPad as on my macbook pro, I could never find the word Gmail and click for contacts on the iPad
And it simply will not display the typepad page with the tool bar, whether this is an iPad problem or a wi fi problem I cannot know but this is the case at the Hyatt Regency, this morning at Starbucks, and on the wireless network here at home
The result of the prior two items is that I was not able to post to typepad nor e mail in mass to readers, bummer dude as the younger set says
There is no external hard wire RS 232 port
the better idea for Apple would be to modify the Airbook so the display folded over 180 degrees to vertical or horizontal so a book could be read
for books a kindle would be better as the reflections off the screen are terrible and make it hard to read
but the Kindle only really works for books not magazines
And digital magazines are more expensive than paper subscriptions, how can that be?
by the time you add the keyboard a macbook air would be as good and you would have a computer with a keyboard, RS 232 port and USB port, yes a macbook air is more money
Just may take, next time I won't leave home without the macbook pro
