Several readers have favorably commented on our attempts to accurately portray the financial meltdown of the 1970s. This weekend I attempted to write on article on Ross Perot's influence at duPont Waltson. The first attempt was too heavy on factual detail about duPont. The second attempt focused more on Ross but at 1200 words did not accomplish what I was trying to show. I was trying to emphasize the massive positive social expectation, a Ross Perot venture cannot possibly fail, baked into the cake. Fail it did and that was precisely the point of writing the piece.
I am coming to realize that the period deserves a good deal more detail as a parallel to this period. I will attempt to break this down further into recognizable parts that do Justice to the massive transitions of that period, 1966-1984, with this period 2000-2018.
Just thinking out loud.
