This article identifies the eight poorest performing retail chains. Howard Davidowitz has said again and again that there was about twice the brick and mortar retail space that is needed. It looks like he is right.
WMT, Target, and Costco have take the lead. They emphasize price and value. Macys Saks Dillards are all after the same high priced market with JCP bringing up the rear. What happened to Borders will eventually happen in these groups as well. It makes no sense to have three high end retailers in the same mall all selling the same things which is what SAKS Macys and Dillards are doing.
