Under no circumstances should you risk your money buying anything until you have thoroughly checked it out. Go to
http;//finance.yahoo.com
put in the symbol, hit get quotes and read everything including the profile, key statistics and financial statements. The insider transactions in the left panel are particularly important. If the principals don't think it is a buy, it probably isn't.
My first recommendation is Titanium Metals TIE. This is controlled by billionaire Harold Simmons. The recent price is 13.77 off the 52 week high of 21.10. Insiders have purchased heavily in August. Harold himself just bought 8.2 million shares this month. He bought about 40 million shares in June and July.
Do not place market orders. Decide on your total dollar commitment. Place limit orders at progressively lower prices using say .25% for each order for no more than your total 5% commitment. Never invest more than 5% of your funds in any one thing. I will say more on placing orders tomorrow, the market is closed now anyway.
As I write TIE is down 5.22% just today. This is why it is imperative to place a ladder of orders at progressively lower prices. I expect much lower prices in the overall stock market by next week, read much lower!!!!!!
