Greg and a Serious Tree

Greg and a Serious Tree

The shape and form of some of the roots of the trees on the river can defy geometric description. Here friend Gregg rests by one of the more impressive examples.

Serenity

Serenity

The appeal of kayaking is simplicity, no sails, no motors, no gasoline, just you the kayak the paddle and the river. This shot was taken at 8:52 on a summer morning.

Rex in Canoe

Rex in Canoe

On this particular trip two of us were in canoes and two in kayaks. THat's the bow of my Wilderness Tarpon in the foreground. It's 12 foot length is just right for this narrow river.

Turtle

Turtle

Wildlife abounds on the river. This chap did not know the current quote on the Dow Jones Industrials nor seemd to care.

Martindale Dam

Martindale Dam

These are scenes taken on the San Marcos River. The SM River begins at Aquarena where the Edwards Aquifer naturally comes to the surfce. The water is 75 degrees year round and about as clear as you will find. This makes it a and the Guadalupe to the south, favorite destinations for kayakers and canoes. This dam is about fifteen miles downstream at Martindale, a town that time seems to have forgotten. It still looks like 1948 there, honest.
